A trial lawyer with over twenty-five years of experience, Scott Frycek has spent the last twenty-three years of his practice defending physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice cases from inception through trial. Scott’s physician clients have repeatedly sought his counsel on matters prior to litigation and after suit is commenced. His level of preparation, reputation for integrity and excellence in trial advocacy have earned him deserved accolades from clients, members of the bar, and the Courts.
In addition to his medical malpractice clients, Scott has also represented numerous nursing homes and skilled care facilities in matters involving claims of nursing home negligence and has defended various municipalities in general liability cases.
Scott joined Federico Schwartz Merolesi & Lyddane LLP as a partner in March 2026. He joined the firm after serving as a partner at a Long Island firm specializing in the defense of physicians, medical groups, and hospitals in medical malpractice actions. Before that, Scott was a partner in a Manhattan firm concentrating on medical malpractice litigation. From 1998 through 2001, Scott served as an Assistant District Attorney for Suffolk County, where he was assigned to the Major Crime Bureau and tried numerous cases to verdict. In 2001, Scott received the Distinguished Trial Advocacy Award from the Honorable James M. Catterson, Jr. for his work in securing convictions in a four defendant homicide trial. Scott is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association.
Scott lives in Mount Sinai with his wife and three sons.
